The effect of humidity on the transmission of Brugia pahangi infective larvae to mammalian hosts by Aedes aegypti

Resumo: The transmission of Brugia pahangi by Aedes aegypti to the mammalian host was compared at low and high humidity. There was no statistical difference between the number of infected mosquitoes feeding or the egress of infective larvae from these mosquitoes at high or low humidity. The penetration of the host by the infective larvae was however significantly greater (p less than 0.05) at high than at a low humidity.
