Guillain-Barré syndrome.

Resumo: In their Seminar on Guillain-Barré syndrome,1 Richard Hughes and David Cornblath list several diseases of the brain and spinal cord that can mimic the syndrome. However, in their diagnostic algorithm they have omitted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Since the disorders listed as differential diagnoses for Guillain-Barré syndrome are far more common than the syndrome itself, an MRI scan of the brain or spinal cord should be done to exclude them, especially if the clinical picture, laboratory investigations, and electrophysiological tests are equivocal
