The WHO (World Health Organisation) programme for the evaluation and testing of new insecticides.

ResumoA survey is given of the present status of vector control (malaria, Chagas' disease, typhus, plague, onchocerciasis, filariasis, yellow fever and dengue haemorrhagic fever, trypanosomiasis) and insecticide-resistance in pest spp, and the WHO programme for the evaluation and testing of insecticides is described in detail. The results obtained are briefly reviewed, with particular attention to: Anophelini (Dipt., Culicidae); larvae of Culex pipiens fatigans (Culicidae), Aedes aegypti (Culicidae) and other culicids; Pediculidae (Anopl.) Siphonoptera. Lists are given of universities, institutes, laboratories and WHO Research Units variously participating in the programme.
